Winter Reminder

Winter Reminder

I step outside and hear the crunch of snow as I stand on the porch.

The cold pierces my flesh

And goes straight to my core.

Yet, I don’t mind it.

The numbing sensation is welcomed.

I gather my bravery and look at the scene in front of me.

My eyes hurt from the harsh

Light from this snow infected world.

The frigid air matches this

Winter bleakness perfectly, and I face it.

Once I reach my limit of this experience, I go inside.

Mornings like this are the reason you should be here.

  We could face them together,

  But instead you are gone.

  Stuck in your lightless chamber.

You never could face the light.

Now, you never have to.

You freed yourself of the burden,

And I hate you for it. But

I don’t blame you. I never could.

Sleep peacefully
